♥Let’s Dive In with Literal Translations!
Grim Reaper: Ugh…you klutz, goblin. Deok-Hwa, it is a difficult story to believe (it might be hard for you to believe) but now you should know…
★ 칠칠치 못하다: '칠칠하다' means 'smart', 'quick' or 'tidy', however, it is usually used in negative forms like '칠칠하지 못하다/칠칠치 못하다', 칠칠맞지 못하다' or '칠칠하지 않다' to describe people who are clumsy or sloppy, or act like a klutz. Please be aware that this expression is quite casual, so you don't want to use this to people who are significantly older than you or with whom you don't feel comfortable enough.
★ 얘기 is a short form of '이야기(story)'
Deok-Hwa: What? (The fact) that uncle is a goblin and the uncle in the last room is a grim reaper?
★ As you notice, Koreans don't address 'you' that often, especially when the listener is older than the speaker. That is why establishing the relationship and calling them accordingly is important. In this case, Deok-Hwa always calls goblin '삼촌(uncle)' and grim reaper '끝방 삼촌(uncle in the last room)'.
Shin: Wow… how did you know?
─◐─
Grim Reaper: We just talked about it. (We just said, duh!)
★ The ending '-잖아' has a few meanings and tones. In this case, it is used to recall/remind/restate the fact that is obvious to the speaker. That is why it has to be used with caution, especially when it is not a question form, because you might sound annoyed. Take a look at this example.
▶A: 내일 몇 시에 가? What time are you going tomorrow?
B: 말했잖아. I told you (already) that I am going at 7.
